Treasures from afar

A dear friend of mine visited Ghana and brought back a few artifacts for me.  I love receiving gifts from foreign lands. These authentic Ghanaian carvings showcase the talent of a unknown Ghanaian artist and reminds me that there is talent and beauty to be found everywhere you go. I  absolutely love them.

The beach in winter

January 5, 2011 § Leave a comment

Here’s something to try.  Take a trip to the beach during the winter. I cannot believe how invigorating it is being out there with the cold fresh breeze beating against my face. Oh man, the air is so pure and crisp.

I went with a sinus infection and left feeling like a million bucks.

While out there, walking on the sand, we gathered shells for projects with the kids. My nieces and nephew enjoyed it just as much as I did.

As a child I lived less than half a mile from the beach.  At nights you can hear the waves lapping against the shore. On stormier nights, you can hear the Great Atlantic blowing to a fury. Scary and fascinating at the same time.

As an adult I’ve dreamed of owning a house by the beach but now  my new dream is to own one so I can run along the shore during the winter time. Who knew!?

Happy New Year

A new year has dawned upon us and I can’t be more excited. I always feel alive and full of hope whenever a new year starts. No matter how great the previous year was for me,  the thought of starting anew fills me with joy.

Christmas came and went and I had a blast. I had family visiting which  was delightful.  So as the new year is underway,  I have many plans for myself and my business. I can hardly wait!

Owl ring $19

Jeweled bracelet. $32

Jeweled X rubber bracelet (foreground) $29

I picked these few pieces up at a little street vendor last week. I now wear the  Jeweled X rubber bracelet daily on the same hand as my watch. There are so many treasures to be found at those street vendors and Kiosks in the mall.

Christmas wish list item #4 – Colorful heels

Feeling super happy just looking at these shoes.  These are on my Christmas wish list. I think it’s because it’s been so cold here on the East Coast it already has me dreaming of spring. And so artsy fartsy. Right up my alley. I will give myself these.

Rachel Roy Elvern $99

Pretty little things

December 11, 2010 § 1 Comment

Simple things make me happy. And on my recent trip to Peir 1 imports (my sister’s fav. store),  I fell in love with their napkin rings. How pretty are these?

It’s enough to make any stylish woman happy at the dinner table.   These are also very easy to make yourself. I will have to do a post on how to make your own pretty napkin rings.  Oh and Peir 1 Imports you guys owe me. I purchased one (yes one) dragon fly napkin ring and the sales associate totally left it out of my bag.

Christmas wish list item #3 – Mesh Earrings

Elsa Peretti® Mesh earrings $550 from Tiffany & Co.  I actually owned the knockoff and loved it (Didn’t know it was a knock off though). My problem is that it tarnished after about a year. I’d love to own the real thing.  So this is on my Christmas wish list.
